In the MMA electrode welding is not always clear as you need to move. Surely seeing it seems easy, but then do it is something else, so we don't waste any more time and we immediately answer this fateful question that comes to mind to anyone who has to start welding at MMA electrode: what diameter of the electrode I choose?
As always, the answer is always "depends on what you need to do", or rather, in our specific case the exact answer is "depends on what thickness you have to weld."
So here is the definitive table to be used to know which diameter of the electrode (Basic or Rutel) choose:
Medium sheet metal / tubular thickness | Maximum recommended electrode diameter |
1.5-2.0 mm | 2.5 mm |
2.0-5.0 mm | 3.2 mm |
5.0-8.0 mm | 4.0 mm |
> 8.0 mm | 5.0 mm |
Attention! The table just shown is aimed at an audience of hobbyists or semi-professionals. Needless to say, for professionals we always recommend that you respect the indications of the client of work or the manager of the order!
If after purchasing the right electrodes you would ask which amperage should be welded, we recommend reading this article.
